CRIMESTOPPERS are urging men in toilets to give them "a tinkle" and help make catching criminals convenient by sticking up posters in the gents' loos.

The poster campaign, in Thames Valley, has been dubbed as "no bog standard stunt" as the regional manager of Crimestoppers, Alison Radevsky, will pop into the gents to pin some of the posters up.

She is helping to launch the campaign, supported by Thames Water, at both ladies' and men's toilets.

Alison aims to get the Crimestoppers message in front of people when they are least expecting it.

"In advertising terms we just want to get our message across to people in an unusual situation. I mean they aren't really looking at anything else.

"Instead of looking at graffiti on the cubicle doors or walls by the urinals they can read the Crimestoppers posters we have to get that message plugged through," said Neville Wade, spokesman for the organisation.

The posters, which will be put up in Thames Valley area toilets including the Marlow loos, in Pound Lane, will say "Heard a whisper, give us a shout" with the Crimestoppers number displayed underneath.

But Mr Wade thinks it would be more appropriate to say "give us a tinkle" on the phone of course.
