AMERSHAM and Chiltern continued their winning run on Saturday beating Tadley 31-17 to remain joint top of the league with Chippenham and Chinnor.

And with matches to come against both their promotion rivals in the New Year, Amersham are in the ideal position to make the 2000/2001 season one to remember.

Tadley drew first blood last week, sending a penalty between the posts as Amersham gave their opponents a three-point start for the fourth week running.

But Brian Richardson brought them back into it with a try, after good work from Dan Wyatt, and Dave Richardson converted. Richardson's boot then extended the lead but Tadley were enjoying most of the territorial advantage when the teams turned round.

But the change of ends did not effect Richardson's kicking and he duly knocked over another two penalties to increase the lead before a converted penalty try brought the scores closer again.

But within minutes of Tadley scoring, Chiltern reminded them who was boss with a Chris Heck try. Yet again Tadley responded with a try and yet again Chiltern scored with Ian Taplin going over.
