NOSEY the Bear's 'nose for a story' prompted Star editor Steve Cohen to take a backseat while the furry trainee reporter took over the Free Press and Star offices.

And astounded reporters were so impressed by Nosey's ability they feared their much-loved editor would be given his marching orders.

Even photographers got the afternoon off as Nosey, who sneaked out on Friday afternoon from his home in Wycombe Hospital's Children's Ward, rushed off on every call, using his keen eye to snap a few exclusives.

Nosey, who helps children overcome fear in hospital, is no stranger to dizzy heights both in and out of the newsroom.

As he scouts around sniffing out exciting stories for his friends back on the children's ward his adventurous streak is causing quite a stir.

Downley Day in June saw him mucking in with the kids for a tug-a-war, before getting himself stuck up a tree.

But Green Watch from High Wycombe Fire Station were soon on the scene to rescue him.

Even Red Arrow pilots cannot believe what a dare-devil he is after he learned how to fly one of their jets at RAF Scampton near Lincoln.

All this while still finding time to meet Grange Hill actors and a doggie star from 102 Dalmatians in between riding a royal horse and giving judo a go.

And Nosey's frenzy is set to continue with plans in the pipeline for him to go on a bungee jump, a parachute jump and to step into the cockpits of more exciting planes.

But not before he gets through his 'height desensitation programme' prescribed for him by hospital doctors after his 'mishap' up a Downley tree.

Nurse Sally Brand, of Selwood Way, Downley, is worn out taking the energetic bear on all of his adventures and is calling on locals to give her a hand.

The nurse said: "There is so much he wants to do for the kids on the ward who delight in learning about his adventures."

"It is great for the children to meet and get to know Nosey and really makes what may be quite a frightening experience in hospital a lot more fun."

Anyone who wants to help out with Nosey's hectic celebrity lifestyle in order to help poorly children can contact Sally on 01494 463152.
