A DEVELOPER proposing to build an office campus at Glory Mill said it will appeal if the site is named Glory Mill Park.

Hanbury Securities wants to name the development of four three-storey and two-storey buildings in Wooburn Green, Glory Park.

However, Wycombe District Council's planning, environment and transportation committee at its meeting on March 19 agreed with the decision made by Wooburn Parish Council to call the development Glory Mill Park.

Hanbury Securities believes the name Glory Park reflects the modern commercial image of the campus, as well as recalling the mill's history. It also said Glory Mill Park would be confused with Taywood Homes residential site and the newly-opened Odyssey Health Club.

Richard Sanders, managing director of Hanbury Securities, said: "The entrance to the office campus will no longer be off Glory Mill Lane but off Boundary Road."

Mr Sanders was consulted by telephone before the district council committee meeting, but said: "We were never told in writing about the meeting and have still not been informed in writing on the name change proposed.

"If they do confirm the name of Glory Mill Park we will object as we believe it will cause too much confusion with Taywood and the health and fitness club."

A spokesman for the district council said Mr Sanders was advised to consult Wooburn Parish Council, but when they could not agree the matter went before the committee which chose Glory Mill Park.

The spokesman said that the council explained to Mr Sanders that he could appeal through the magistrates court, and said: "Mr Sanders was telephoned but was unavailable. A letter was produced detailing the situation but awaits input from legal services prior to being sent."

David Paul, chairman of Wooburn Parish Council planning committee, said the council wanted to retain the name because of its association with the past which was an important source of employment for the area.
