BIRMINGHAM claimed the Philip Willicombe Memorial Trophy played at Wycombe's Kingsmead Netball Centre at the weekend.

The Midlands side saw off competition from seven other county teams in the tournament. South Bucks finished fourth.

The £300 raised from the tournament will be split between Phab and Wycombe Hospital, which both helped Philip, who died last year. He was the brother of South Bucks county captain Jan Keen.

Both Jan and her mother Maggie play their club netball at Kingsmead.

Hampshire North claimed runners-up spot in the tournament which was also contested by Derbyshire, Oxfordshire, Northants, Nottinghamshire and Avon.

South Bucks took fourth after winning just one of their four matches.

Bucks 2nds also finished their section fourth.
