BEACONSFIELD'S mayor Malcolm Dunlop has asked the district council to help deal with fly-posting in the town.
Malcolm Dunlop, Mayor of Beaconsfield, removed 118 illegal posters from Beaconsfield Old Town in a four-week period earlier this year.
The matter of illegal fly-posters was raised at the Annual Town Meeting last Thursday and Cllr Dunlop reported he had asked the district council to look into the matter.
The problem is worst in Beaconsfield Old Town, which is a conservation area, and Cllr Dunlop believes the laws in such an area could be more restrictive.
Cllr Dunlop is behind the new attempts to clamp down on the posters.
He said: "I do not think that anyone has ever challenged the placing of fly-posters from a planning point of view before.
"The current planning regulations do not take into account that the Old Town is a conservation area."
A spokesman from South Bucks District Coucil said: "We will be writing to the owners of the signs to tell them to remove them. If they do not comply they will be removed."
