A FOOTBALL club is aiming to raise £200,000 to finance the building of a new clubhouse.

Beaconsfield SYCOB recently won the Minerva South Midlands Spartan League Premier Division title and could be promoted to the Ryman League, depending on a grading of the ground assessing the facilities which will take place later this month.

Club vice-chairman Paul Hughes wants to improve facilities at the ground and build a brick clubhouse to replace the current wooden building.

The club has appealed against an enforcement notice issued by South Bucks District Council, ordering them to tear down a temporary boardroom and other buildings built on the site without planning permission.

But the club has secured planning permission for the brick clubhouse and needs only to raise the cash for the new building.

Mr Hughes said: "We have not got any grants from the lottery or the district council so it will be down to hard work and mucking in if we are to raise the cash."

The club has not begun fundraising for the £200,000, but Mr Hughes said there will be a programme of events in the coming year.
