CARING students are raising money to buy a memorial bench for Jay Turner who died in a road accident.
Jay, of Piggotts Orchard, Amersham, was a student at Amersham and Wycombe College.
He died from a skull fracture and other head injuries, after being in collision with a van on the A355 London Road West, Amersham, two months ago, as he was walking along the road.
Students at the college will be organising their own version of Ready Steady Cook to raise the funds.
It will be hosted by students and staff from the School of Community Education at the Amersham campus and will go out live to the college on May 21.
Andy Muir, a programme assistant at the college, said that the other students missed 22-year-old Jay and wanted to get something to remember him by.
He said: "I had him in my classes. He got on so well with everyone and was so caring, especially with people in wheelchairs. He was always keen to make his views known, and was so excitable and lovely with it."
"They still think they hear him down the corridors. To get a memorial bench will be a nice thing to do."
The event has been organised as part of a series which includes Inclusion Day.
This took place across the college's campuses on Wednesday last week and was to promote inclusive learning where students with learning difficulties and disabilities are included in mainstream classrooms.
Admission to the event costs 50p for the public.
