A NEW chairman has been appointed at Thames Valley Economic Partnership, set up in 1994 to ensure the area maintains its position as a vibrant economic region.

Tim Evans CBE is a member of the chairman's advisory council for the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), governor of Newbury College and vice president of the Energy Industries Council. He was also chairman of Thames Valley Enterprise, the former Training and Enterprise Council from 1990 to 1992, and remained a director until 1995.

He said: "I am delighted to be taking over as chair of Thames Valley Economic Partnership at a very exciting time.

"Membership is increasing, particularly from the private sector as more and more local firms realise they must join forces to make their voices heard on issues that concern us all, such as transport and infrastructure."

He added attracting new firms to the region, and making sure others stay, is a key priority for the partnership.

"To date we have assisted many companies which have subsequently invested more than £60 million in the region's economy," said Mr Evans.
