Ammanford assault victim dies

A 69-YEAR-old Penygroes man has died following an assault near the Miner's Welfare Club in Ammanford.
The assault happened at about 9pm on Monday, August 20 and it is understood the victim had remained in a coma in hospital until his death yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
A 35-year-old local man was been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains on police bail. "Our inquiries into this incident are still ongoing," said Det Insp Gary Phillips.
"If anyone has information on this incident which could help our investigation, I'd ask them to please contact us at Ammanford Police Station on 101."
