The extension provides threenewearly years’ classrooms, an extension to the hall and the remodelling and refurbishment of the existing building. Internal refurbishment included a Special Educational Needs therapy room, medical inspection, and small group and parent interview rooms. The head teacher’s office, administration facilities, toilets and kitchen were also refurbished.
Director of education and children’s services Robert Sully said: “Providing firstclass education facilities, to ensure our youngpeople get the best start in life, is vital.
The investment at Tycroes is fantastic and will enable the children to learn in the best environment and therefore develop their skills even further.”
Contractors John Weaver Ltd also donated £10,000 for the latest iPads to the school, which has remained operational throughout the work.
Internal works have been completed and external work is due to finish within weeks.
The official reopening is scheduled for July 9, which will mark the completion of Carmarthenshire county council’s investment in the school through its Modernising Education Programme.
