Ammanford teen hid weed in his trousers

AN AMMANFORD teenager has been granted a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 court costs after he admitted possessing a small quantity of cannabis.

Thomas Mark Snell, of 28 Heol Llwchwr, was stopped by police on foot patrol on Penybanc Road at 8.50pm on May 13 after officers decided he was acting “evasively”.

Gerald Neave told Llanelli magistrates how the officers claimed the 19-year-old smelled of cannabis and believed he had hidden drugs inside his trousers.

“Whenhe was told he would be taken to Ammanford police station and strip-searched, he produced a small amount of herbal cannabis from inside his trousers,” said Mr Neave.

Snell admitted possessing 1.02 grammes – valued at around £10 – of the Class B drug.

Magistrates granted him a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £85 court costs.
