'Only Plaid can stop the Tories'

ONLY Plaid Cymru can stop the Tories getting any influence in County Hall – that was the message to Carmarthenshire voters from Plaid Cymru this week as polling day onMay 3 approaches.

Despite the Labour party running the council in coalition with the Independent group, Plaid Cymru has been the largest political group on Carmarthenshire county council for the past four years, with almost three times as many elected councillors as Labour.

Plaid leader Peter Hughes Griffiths said that if Labour supporters really wanted to send a message to David Cameron they should vote for their local Plaid candidate “and destroy all chances of a single Tory councillor getting into the council”.

“The Conservatives are fielding more candidates than Labour has councillors currently elected,” he said.

“The stark reality of the election here in Carmarthenshire is that only Plaid Cymru can stop the Tories getting into County Hall.”

Local AM Rhodri Glyn Thomascommented: “The voters have the opportunity next week to end the status quo – a chance to reject another five years of a Labour and closet Tory coalition and bring new leadership to County Hall.”
