A SWANSEA Valley motorist who was clocked doing 72mph in a 50mph speed zone was fined £100 when he appeared before Neath magistrates.

Ben Peter Ley, aged 21, of 10 Woodland Court, Brecon Road, Pontardawe, was said to have committed the offence whilst driving his Volkswagen in Fabian Way, Jersey Marine on February 9, 2009.

The case was proved in Ley’s absence and in addition to being fined £100, he also received five points on his licence and was ordered to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge.

No separate penalties were imposed on charges of failing to produce a driving licence, insurance and test certificate.
