You know that quiet woodland walk you love so dearly, the breath-taking views of the sea you drink in at the beach on a Sunday stroll, or that stunning historic castle you love to roam and wonder when you need some inspiration?

Well, prepare to share it with a few more people because Carmarthenshire’s best kept secrets are out.

People all over the world are about to fall in love with our wonderful county as they are captivated by wanderlust for the place we’re lucky to call home.

Some of the UK’s biggest travel publications are featuring Carmarthenshire on their pages, which are a source of holiday inspiration for thousands of people.

Lonely Planet, the largest travel guide book publisher in the world, is just one of those to recognise what we have to offer on our doorstep.

The beautiful Towy Valley is featured in its latest edition, with readers encouraged to pack a flask and blanket for a wintry al-fresco lunch in the great outdoors amongst spectacular scenery.

Holiday Living magazine suggests a winter walk at Scott’s Bay in Llansteffan and stylish lunch dates at Llandeilo and Llanarthne.

Guardian travel writers have chosen Pendine Sands as one of its ‘finds of the year’, picked from their favourite trips of 2017. The sands had been featured in the paper’s British Boltholes section back in September.

The features are worth thousands of pounds in advertising value equivalent, and were secured by the council’s marketing and media team who work with national publications to help boost Carmarthenshire’s tourism economy.

Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, executive board member for culture, sport and tourism, said:

“As well as putting Carmarthenshire on the map as a must-see destination for 2018, the features are sure to help attract new visitors to the area and in turn boost the local economy.”

The value of tourism in Carmarthenshire increases every year, and is now worth £370million.

Visitors staying in our hotels, bed and breakfasts, self-catering and tourism caravan sites contribute some £260million, with an additional £40million spent in the area by people who take advantage of staying with friends and family.
