When women are due to give birth they are usually recommended to eat hot curries or go for gentle walks - but one mother-to-be decided to climb one of the highest peaks in Wales.

At 39 weeks pregnant, Molly Lewin, of Gwaun-cae-Gurwen, decided to climb up Pen y Fan along with her best friend Angharad Caines last weekend despite the 21-year-old being due to give birth to a baby girl next week.

Angharad said: “Molly’s mother suggested it so we climbed Pen-y-fan on the weekend.

“Considering she is 39 weeks pregnant she did really well.

“The weather was really windy but we still managed to get to the top in around an hour and a half.

"She has had a few pains, but nothing major yet."
