Ammanford Police and Carmarthenshire County Council parking enforcement officers have received numerous complaints about the use of cars and vans being driven and parked on Quay Street, Hall Street and Lloyd Street .

Over the past few months, officers have been advising drivers but due to continued problems, fixed penalty tickets will be issued to any driver who is seen to commit offences this may lead to formal prosecutions at court.

Signs on the approach to Quay Street, Lloyd Street and Hall Street are clearly visible and access for deliveries to the shops are permitted between the hours before 11am and after 4pm.

Drivers of delivery vehicles must adhere to these times in order to promote the safety of public.

Outside of these hours an offence is being committed.

Ps 381 Kerry Scoberg said: “It is of paramount importance that members of the public who use these shopping areas are protected from vehicles being driven through the pedestrianised area, and any vehicles being parked do not cause an obstruction in the event of emergency vehicles needing to get through.

"Officers have actively been warning drivers who have contravened access regulations and offering education in relation to the traffic regulations.

"Shops and businesses have been informed to take the necessary actions to inform their delivery drivers.

"We are hopeful that the advice given along with the publicity around the issues with in our town centre will negate the necessity to issue fixed penalty tickets."
