An Ammanford man has been jailed for 15 months after putting his girlfriend in hospital twice on the same day and then attacked her mother and father.

A judge at Swansea crown court told 24-year-old Rhodri Owen Evans that he “had completely lost control.”

Evans, of Walter Road, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm to Abby Warren, racially assaulting her father Christopher and assaulting her mother Adele.

Nicola Powell, prosecuting, said the couple shared a house in Cross Hands and had been in a relationship for more than two years.

On April 23 Evans flew into a fury after his fiancée added a friend to her Facebook account. He grabbed her by her throat until she thought she was going to die and she kicked him in the groin.

But he pushed her head onto a marble worktop causing a serious head wound.

Miss Warren was taken to the west Wales general hospital in Carmarthen but pretended she had slipped and banged her head.

Miss Powell said after she returned home Evans attacked her for a second time, re-opening the head wound and she had to return for further treatment.

While there she received abusive text messages from Evans and asked staff not to allow him into the hospital.

Miss Evans went to stay with her parents at their home in Drefach but Evans turned up the following day.

He immediately punched Mr Warren and called him an “English c..t” before thumping Mrs Warren twice in her face.

Miss Powell said Evans was arrested and driven to Ammanford police station. On the way he asked permission to call a friend but instead he telephoned Miss Evans and yet again became abusive to her.

James Hartson, representing Evans, said his behaviour had been appalling and unpleasant and he was now ashamed.

Judge Paul Thomas told Evans, “Over a two day period you completely lost your self control. I suspect drugs were behind it but the trigger was your immature jealousy or your fiancée.”

Judge Thomas issued a retraining order banning Evans from contacting Miss Evans’ parents after his release from jail.
