An Ammanford-born actress has taken over the role as a patron of Hywel Dda Health Charities.

Alexandra Roach will be working with the charity throughout the year to promote its work.

The 29-year-old graduated from London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 2010 and has an impressive list of acting experiences to date.

In 2011 she was given the incredible opportunity to co-star in the Oscar and BAFTA winning film ‘The Iron Lady’ with screen icon Meryl Streep, taking on the role of a young Margaret Thatcher.

This part firmly placed her as one of the most exciting actresses to emerge in recent years.

More recently Alexandra has appeared in the TV hits Utopia and No Offence.

Alexandra said: “Hywel Dda Health Charities is doing amazingly positive work in providing crucial support to improve patient care that the NHS cannot provide and supporting expenditure above what the NHS can fund. I am thrilled to be a patron and aim to raise the profile of the many amazing stories of the charity’s fundraisers and how we support patients as part of my role with the charity.”

Hywel Dda Health Charities is a registered charity which supports patients, staff and services within Hywel Dda University Health Board. The charity aims to make a difference to the thousands of people cared for by the University Health Board across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and beyond each year.

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities said: “We are delighted to have Alexandra on board to help us promote the positive differences that our charity makes to our local healthcare services every day. We would like to thank Alexandra for finding the time to work with us in her extremely busy schedule and look forward to working with her this year to showcase the work of our charity.”
