An Amman Valley teenager has won a place in the semi-final of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain.

Kelsey Jones Lloyd, from Gwaun cae Gurwen, has beaten off competition from across the UK to be named as one of the semi-finalists.

Ysgol Dyffryn Aman pupil Kelsey entered the competition by sending three photographs to organisers and has been shortlisted to take part in the next round.

The 15-year-old said: "I am so excited to have made it to the semi-final, it is a great achievement.

"I have never taken part in anything like this before. I have taken part in dance shows with Amman Valley School of Dance so I think that is what has brought out my confidence to take part in the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain.

"Making it to the grand final would be a dream come true. Fingers crossed I will be able to represent my hometown and win the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain crown."

Teenagers from across Great Britain will compete for the crown in a spectacular grand final and the winner of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain will walk away with some incredible prizes including £500.

Kelsey and her fellow semi-finalists will now be taking part in fundraising activities for the competitions charity Together For Short Live, a leading UK charity speaks out for children and young people who are expected to have short lives.

The organisation helps children and their families have as fulfilling lives as possible and the very best care at the end of life.

Kelsey hopes to host a cake sale in school, walk up Pen-y-Fan and set up a GoFundMe page so she can raise money for the charity.

Miss Popularity and Miss Charity are the two titles Kelsey is aiming to win at the competition.

The grand final of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain will be held at The Globe in Blackpool.

The weekend of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain is set to be full of fun with the finalists enjoying a Beauty Queen Challenge Day, a pyjama diva party and much more.

There is set to be around 40 competitors in the grand final.
