Last Sunday's sunshine brought out the crowds to help mark the 30th anniversary of the Trap Fun Run.

Osprey's Full Back, Dan Evans got the event underway with two races and a total of 266 runners and walkers which came from the surrounding local communities to all reaches of South and West Wales.

67 adults ran the challenging 4.7 mile race with 134 children and 65 walkers ranging in ages from toddlers in pushchairs to recycled teenagers but all entrants had a spring in their step and a smile on their face.

Welsh, Commonwealth and British athlete Dewi Griffiths, of Llanfynydd, having just returned from a training camp with Steve Jones in the USA, was glad of the opportunity to run again at Trap, an event which is so close to his heart as it is one of the first Fun Runs in which he ever took part.

He did so in style, much to the delight of the crowd, taking 51 seconds off his existing course record to romp home easily in a time of 22 minutes and 10 seconds.

His success is an inspiration to the up and coming talented young athletes who aspire to reach the same heights, such as Archie Morgan of Llandeilo, despite being elligible for the Junior Race, opted to run in the Open and crossed the line in second place (28mins.13) . In the Ladies Open Race, the honours went to Llinos Jones of Saron, in a time of 31min 21, now a 35+ veterenne athlete who has, like Dewi, taken part in the event since she was a young schoolgirl.

Callum Lovatt of Ammanford defended his title in the Junior Race with a fine run, crossing the 2.8 mile course finish line in a time of 17 minutes and Maddie Morgan, of Carmarthen, was the winner of the girls race with a time of 20 minutes and 10 seconds.

Every one was a winner at the Trap Run receiving a medal presented by Dyffryn Cennen Community Council and a Brecon Carreg T Shirt, mirrored by all other sponsors such as Gelli Plant, SJ Griffiths and Son and Morgan Marine, all of which help to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance as well as Trap Show whilst providing a day filled with enjoyment, friendship, camaraderie and lasting memories of yet another successful milestone.
