UKIP's Neil Hamilton has been named the party's candidate to fight the Carmarthen East and Dinefwr seat in the upcoming General Election, the Guardian understands.
Mr Hamilton has represented Mid and West Wales in the National Assembly since May 2016.
The former Conservative MP for Tatton in Cheshire but was born in Blackwood, Gwent, and spent part of his childhood in the Amman valley, attending Amman Valley Comprehensive during his teens.
The Carmarthen East and Dinefwr seat has been held by Plaid Cymru's Jonathan Edwards since 2010.
Mr Edwards held the seat at the 2015 election with a 5,591 majority after securing 38.4 per cent of the vote.
