Storm Doris could be heading to Carmarthenshire as early as tomorrow morning as a Met Office weather warning has been issued for nearly the whole of Wales.

Carmarthenshire County Council has warned residents to be safe as strong winds are expected with gusts of 60-70mph and 70-80mph on coats and hills.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind for Carmarthenshire from 8am until 2pm tomorrow, Thursday February 23.

The council’s Facebook message reads “Members of the public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport and possibly to power supplies, as well as generally difficult driving conditions”.

Whilst the strongest winds look to be only short-lived, damage to structures, interruptions to power supplies and widespread disruption to travel networks are likely, with a danger of injury from flying debris.

Trees are also likely to be damaged or blown over.

Heavy rain is also likely through Thursday as well as some snow over high ground as the system clears eastwards. These may prove additional hazards.

The warning has been updated to extend the at-risk area southwards.
