An Ammanford primary school has celebrated the success of its recent inspection report.

The school’s performance and prospects for improvement rating is the highest available from the inspection, which was carried out in December last year.

The reports focused on three key questions including outcomes, provision and leadership and management.

All three were rated as “excellent”.

The schools teaching standards was recognised in the report which stated the strong feature of the school’s work is the “consistency in the excellent standard of teaching in all classes, over time, which has a very positive effect on pupils’ excellent outcomes”.

The report goes on to say that “all teachers ensure that their lessons have a good pace, which leads to very high levels of commitment among pupils”.

The schools learning environment was highly commended, with the report describing the school has “an extremely friendly, supportive and familial community that promotes a pleasant ethos in which nearly all pupils are given valuable opportunities to enable them to succeed”.

The senior leadership team was also identified as playing a significant role in raising standards of teaching, in addition to pupils’ high outcomes over a period of time.

Only two recommendations were laid out – Improve the ability of pupils in key stage two to make decisions that influence their own learning; Develop further the role of members of the governing body in identifying priorities for improvement.

Headteacher, Bethan Martin said: “I am extremely proud of this report.

“It is a good reflection on the standard of teaching at the school. We have high expectations and high standards and I think that comes across in the report.

“The excellent results show what has been done over a period of time and I am very fortunate to have fantastic teachers and staff who continue to support pupils and parents.”
