Llandeilo hairdressers will feature in a new S4C series airing tonight.

If there's one place where people go to gossip, it's the hairdressers, and Y Salon is a brand new factual entertainment series that has been filmed in seven real hairdressers around the country.

Each week, viewers can eavesdrop on some of the interesting conversations that take place while regular customers get their hair done while contemplating the latest news - some important and some not - with their stylist.

The series will include Llandeilo hairdressers Craig and Huw who have been running Style salon in the town for around eight years.

According to a poll carried out in 2016, hairdressing is one of the professions British people trust the most - with 69% saying they would trust hairdressers to tell the truth.

It means that people trust their hairdressers more than police and television news readers. But what makes the hairdressers a place that people feel comfortable in?

Craig said: “Most days, me and Huw bounce off each other and it’s like a pantomime in here.

“If it’s a good day I love my job, but if it’s a bad day, it’s a good that there isn’t a camera in the staff room all of the time!”

As the styling starts and the conversation develops, the hairdressers will discuss the headlines and the big stories of that week with their clients – from tabloid stories about celebrities to the serious matters of the day, and from local news to the personal.

Huw said: “Craig isn’t only my business partner but also my partner in my personal life so it can be a bit crazy sometime as we work and live together - but most of the time we have a lot of fun!”

The other shops and stylists that will take part in the series are: Carys and Cara from G&J Salon, Bangor; Colin and Jason from Magic Clippers barbershop, Caernarfon; Kelly from Snip and Clip, Caernarfon; Sonya from Blodeuwedd beauty salon, Caernarfon; Gary, Ke-lee and Tamara from Blade - Blewyn Bala hair salon, Bala; and Llinos and Hedydd from Llinos Hair and Beauty Shop, Cardigan.

Y Salon is on S4C tonight (Friday, January 13) at 8.25pm.
