A TOWY Valley couple who have helped to raise money for a children’s cancer charity have bought a caravan for families with children suffering with the disease after losing their daughter last year.

Lisa and Richard Evans, from Llandovery, lost their daughter Chloe to a form of childhood cancer last August after a three-year battle.

Ever since the tragedy, the family have been committed to raising awareness and money for a Welsh children’s cancer charity named LATCH.

£7,020 was recently donated to the charity at the Brunant Arms in Caio after members of the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club raised the money at the Caio Enduro held in Caio Forest in May this year.

Chloe’s mum Lisa said: “The Dyfed Dirt Bike event went really well. Although the weather was wet it didn’t ruin the day.

“Me and my family took part in the catering side of the event and it was a great turn out.

“There was also a fundraising tea party held earlier on in the year, my husband Richard has participated in some fundraising activities and other members have also taking part in events such as The Great North Run and Cardiff Half Marathon all to raise money for LATCH and the caravan.

“All the family getting involved has been a big help.”

The family decided to raise money for a static caravan to enable parents with an affordable destination to take poorly children on an affordable holiday.

The caravan, named Chloe’s Caravan for Kids, is located in Kiln Park in Tenby and is for families to use who have a child with cancer.

Lisa added: “The first family stayed in the caravan over the Easter holidays and we have been told that it has been fully booked a lot of the time.

“No doubt a family will be using the caravan during this half term as well which is brilliant.”

Due to the excellent success of Chloe’s Caravan for Kids, the family have approached LATCH to see if they can purchase another caravan for more families to enjoy a holiday.

“Another caravan would be brilliant to help provide even more families with a place they can go on holiday,” said Lisa.
