CWMAMAN Town Council have are bringing back the Cwmaman Mayor’s Fun Run this weekend.

The event will be in aid of the X-Ray unit at Amman Valley Hospital and will take place on Sunday, October 16.

The run will comprise three septate races, 10k, 5k and a 1K Tots Trek, and will take in some of the stunning landscapes the Amman Valley has to offer.

Starting from Cwmaman Park in Garnant at 10am, runners will experience a challenging and highly enjoyable 10K race that will take across both sides of the valley surrounding Cwmaman.

The shorter 5K race will include a good section of the Riverside Walk and for the younger children and their parents and guardians, there is a Tots Trek which will encompass Cwmaman Park and Golwg Yr Aman Park.

Mayor of Cwmaman Kevin Madge said: “I am delighted to be bringing back the Mayor’s Fun Run this weekend. It was a key calendar event for many years in the community.

“I am particularly pleased that we have such a good cause, the X-Ray facilities at Amman Valley Hospital, to be dedicating the run to. This facility will bring a much needed service to the whole of the Amman Valley and help those people that may struggle accessing services in Llanelli or Carmarthen”

Community Development Officer for Cwmaman Town Council, Rob Venus said: “To have received such eager support from the private sector locally really does show how supportive they are of the community within which they are based.

“We hope, following this year’s event, to develop additional running and cycling events for next year. Suggestions have included a half/full marathon, mountain biking events and a very challenging cross-country event.”
