TRIBUTES have been paid to the long-serving clerk of Ammanford Town Council who has died following a short illness.

Miriam Phillips, who filled the role for 22 years, passed away on Thursday evening.

Councillor Deian Harries said: “Miriam was a fantastic lady who put Ammanford first.

“The news of her sudden passing is devastating and she will be solely missed by everyone on the town council.

“She loved Ammanford and was the instigator of many features in the town including the splash pads, they were her baby.

“Onn behalf of the town council, we are all sending our condolences to the whole family during this sad time.”

The funeral is being held at St Tybie Parish Church, Llandybie on Tuesday, September 6 at 12.30pm.
