WITH final preparations nearly complete and summer holidays in full swing, get ready as an annual charity event is returning to Ammanford this weekend.

Ammanford Cricket Club is hosting the Super Fun Saturday event this Saturday, August 27, where plenty of fun and games are taking place to raise money for two appeals.

One appeal is to raise money for defibrillators for the Ammanford area, which will be quick and easy to get to in the vital moments should someone suffer a cardiac arrest.

The event is also raising money for CCTAL (Carmarthenshire Construction Training Association Ltd) Ugandan Hospital Appeal, which overseas construction firms supporting the building of a hospital in Uganda by sending apprentices and tradesmen to work on the project.

This year sees the introduction of a 26-mile charity bike ride. The route begins at Ammanford Cricket Club and heads to Cwmtwrch and then back to Ammanford Cricket Club.

Registration for the bike ride is at 9am and the ride begins at 10am. There is a £20 entry fee to take part in the cycle and sponsorship forms are available from South Wales Guardian, Ammanford College and SFS headquarters.

All cyclists are welcome and whoever raises over £100 and over gets a jersey worth £30.

During the afternoon, you will be able to watch Ammanford take on Pontarddulais during a league cricket match which will be taking place amongst the rest of the entertainment.

Then it is time to feed your stomachs, so the hog roast will be ready by 2pm along with a delicious BBQ.

As the sun goes down, live music will start at 8pm where a local duo will take to the stage to perform for the crowds and dance the night away.

There will also be a charity auction in the evening with lots to bid for including four tickets for Wales v England six nations match, a flat screen TV and an iPad just to name a few.

The whole event is hosted by award-winning heating company SFS in partnership this year with TRJ building contractors. For more details contact Ryan at Solid Fuel Services on 01269 597694.
