DYFED-Powys Police Carmarthenshire Neighbourhood Development Department have issued some important information for parents and children and those lucky enough to be going on holiday this summer.

Community Safety Officer for Carmarthenshire, PC Dave White, said: “Now that the schools have finished we have an increase in Anti-social Behaviour as the kids are off from school.

“The calls sometimes can be about kids playing football on the street annoying neighbours or causing a danger to road users, or starting fires or generally being unruly.

“It’s not our intention to spoil anyone’s fun as the kids work hard all year and look forward to their long breaks, our message is here to prevent anyone getting into trouble or getting a criminal record.

“I would also ask people to look out for their neighbours properties when they are away and for people not go announce they are going away on social media.”

The summer advice from Dyfed Powys Police include encouraging youngsters to get involved in out-of-school activities, making youngsters aware of basic road safety rules, parents asking their children to respect their neighbours’ privacy and quality of life and being a good neighbour by offering to take in parcels when others are away on holiday.

Also the advice states to remember to lock all doors and windows before leaving your home, drivers being aware as more children will be playing outdoors, remember to lock all sheds and out buildings, securely store garden furniture and bikes when you’re finished with them, making sure the front of your house is secure when in the back garden and do not advertise your impending holiday on Twitter or Facebook

PC White added: “Our Neighbourhood Policing teams have home security kits which includes a house alarm which can be borrowed for the period that you are away please take them up on these excellent bits of kit.”
