THE organisers of Ammanford Big Day Out have been forced to postpone the event due to forecasters predicting strong winds and heavy rain.
The Met Office has said east Carmarthenshire is facing winds of more than 30mph all day on Saturday along with heavy downpours.
The forecast has left organisers with little choice but to postpone the event for seven days.
“We are bitterly disappointed to have had to make this decision, but given the forecast we have been left with no choice,” said Ammanford mayor Alex Smith.
“At the end of the day the health and safety of the public is the most important thing and given what we are being told it would not be sensible to go ahead with the event.
“The forecasters are predicting extreme weather for Ammanford all day on Saturday and therefore we have been to make this decision.”
The event has now been postponed until next Saturday, July 16.
“We would be extremely grateful if everyone could let their friends, family and neighbours know that tomorrow’s event has now been postponed for seven days” said Alex.
“We will be going ahead with the event next Saturday.”
