AN AMMAN Valley rugby club is set to benefit from £50,000 grant funding.

The cash will see huge improvement works at Amman United RFC after an application to WREN's FCC Community Action Fund was approved.

The money will be used to fully refurbish the first floor of the club on Cwmaman Road, Glanaman.

Darrell Campbell, Chairman of the club believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area.

He said: "This project will provide a real boost to the people of Cwmaman. It's fantastic that WREN has awarded us this money and we are really looking forward to our club house taking shape over the next few months."

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Meleri Jones, WREN Grant Manager said: "Good facilities which are available to all, are vital for community well-being and this project provides a facility people of all ages can come together and take part in a range of activities."

The refurbishment will include new toilets, bar area, stage and fully fitted kitchen, which will allow the club to cater for all sorts of functions.

The work is hoped to be completed by October this year.
