A CARMARTHENSHIRE man has been named as being on board the missing EgyptAir plane.

Richard Osmon, originally from Carmarthen, is one of the 66 passengers and crew feared dead after the plane, travelling from Paris to Cario, disappeared from radar just 20 minutes prior landing at Cario International Airport.

The 40-year-old Geologist was travelling on his way to work in Cario, a trip which he frequently took as part of his occupation, early hours on Thursday morning.

The former Queen Elizabeth School pupil attended Kingston University and then studied his master’s degree at Camborn School on Mining in Cornwall.

Mr Osman was married with two young daughters, one of them just being born in the last three weeks.

His younger brother Alastair, 36, a biochemistry student at Swansea University told the media: “He would have been going to work I assume. I know he works in both Egypt and another country in Africa.

“He has been doing this for years in the gold mining industry. This was a regular trip he used to do it at least once a month, year after year.

“He was really happy about having the baby and was looking forward to enjoying a lovely life with his two girls.”

Mr Osman and his family live in Jersey, and Richard had previously travelling around the world before returning to work in Europe several years ago.

It is believed that Mr Osman’s father, Dr Mohamed Fekry Ali Osman, who passed away in 2013, had moved from his native Egypt to become a consultant in Swansea. He had lived in Mumbles.

The massive search of the missing MS804 flight goes into its second day that disappeared over the Mediterranean.
