THE Kaiser Chiefs will be joined by star-studded guests at an open air concert at the Cardiff's SSE Swalec this summer.

Ricky Wilson and co will be joined by special guest Dizzee Rascal and Everything Everything at the home of Glamorgan County Cricket Club on Saturday, July 16.

The multi-million selling Brit Award-winning band are currently working on their sixth studio album. Fronted by Ricky Wilson, who has enjoyed a rise to prominence in his role as a winning coach on The Voice, Kaiser Chiefs’ summer 2016 outdoor gigs have sold out in record time.

An anthemic collection of hits including Oh My God, I Predict A Riot, Coming Home, Everyday I Love You Less And Less, Ruby and Never Miss A Beat have formed the backbone of Kaiser Chiefs live shows in recent years with a multitude of hits from five studio albums giving their sets a wealth of material.

"We always love playing outdoors and we’ve played fields, parks, farms, rooftops, beaches and back gardens, but an international cricket pitch is a first for us,” said Ricky Wilson.

“We always enjoy playing in Wales, we’re looking forward to this show.”

South Wales Guardian:

Dizzee Rascal will bring his crowd-pleasing brand of rap, pop and grime in to the early evening slot with an extensive hit list that includes ‘Bonkers’, ‘Dance Wiv Me’, ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ and ‘Holiday’. A past-winner of the Mercury Music Prize, his critically acclaimed debut album Boy In The Corner paved the way for mainstream stardom in collaborations with Armand Van Helden and Calvin Harris. Indie-rock band Everything Everything are also on the bill with further acts to be added to the day-long celebration of music.

Confirmation that the Kaiser Chiefs are heading for south Wales completes a weekend of back-to-back headline acts at The SSE SWALEC, with Simply Red already confirmed to perform the following day at the international cricket venue in the heart of Cardiff.

Venue Chief Executive Hugh Morris hopes that the bill offers exceptional value for ticket buyers and further strengthens the credentials of the historic home of Welsh cricket as a concert venue.

“Our vision was to secure a bill of top talent and to provide a festival feel for a summer Saturday crowd,” said Hugh.

“We’re determined to establish The SSE SWALEC as the venue of choice for music acts looking to perform in South Wales and we’re delighted that The Kaiser Chiefs, Dizzee Rascal and Everything Everything have accepted our invitation to headline the event in July.

“We hope that it proves to be popular with music fans across Wales and further afield.”

Gates will open at 2pm with Kaiser Chiefs on stage at 8.30pm. Stage times for special guests Dizzee Rascal, Everything Everything and additional support acts are to be confirmed.

Tickets go on sale at 10am this Friday, April 15, with early-bird tickets priced at £39.50 plus booking fee.
