A BURST water main left thousands of homes in Carmarthenshire without drinking water on Wednesday.

Dwr Cymru were called to make emergency repairs after properties in Llandybie, Trap, Cross Hands, Tumble, Gorslas, Penygroes and Carmel were affected.

Carmarthenshire County Council leader, Councillor Emlyn Dole has praised Dwr Cymru for their actions during last Wednesday's emergency.

Cllr Dole said the water company had pulled out all the stops to resolve the situation.

Dwr Cymru sent information out throughout the day, including texts to customers affected, supplied bottled water and had tankers of water delivered to schools to ensure they could stay open.

Information was also published and updated on their website.

Cllr Dole said: “I would like to publicly thank Dwr Cymru for the prompt and professional way they dealt with this emergency situation, and in particular for the excellent customer care they demonstrated throughout.”
