A MAN has been taken to hospital with "non life-threatening injuries" after being hit by a car outside Ammanford's Wilko store.
Eyewitnesses claim to have heard the driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa shout "my breaks have failed" before it left the road and mounted the pavement, knocking down a pedestrian.
Emergency services attended the lunchtime incident and the man was taken to hospital.
A Welsh Ambulance service spokesperson said: “We were called at just before 1pm today to reports of a pedestrian having been knocked over near Wilkinson Store, Carregamman, Ammanford.
"We attended with a Rapid Response Vehicle and an Emergency Ambulance and a male adult has been conveyed to Morriston Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.”
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed police attended a road traffic collision at 12.50pm today (Wednesday).
She said: "A black Vauxhaul Corsa and a male pedestrian were involved in the collision.
"The male pedestrian has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Ammanford Police on 101."
