A public meeting to discuss proposals for a hub at Llandeilo railway station is set to take place on Monday, October 5.

The station hub is a small, transportable building, made in Wales by Bamford Makers of Presteigne. It has been specially designed for use at rural and unstaffed stations where original buildings no longer exist. It will help open up new opportunities for local business and community use.

During the afternoon, from 2 – 5pm, there will be a drop-in session featuring more information about the station hub, the results of the online questionnaire and an interactive display. Maryellens of Llandeilo will provide fresh coffee and home baked cakes.

The evening meeting begins at 7pm. As part of an interesting programme, Professor Paul Salveson will chair a question and answer session, with a panel to take your questions about the future of the hub and what it might be used for.

Prof. Salveson said: "The Heart of Wales line is one of the UK's most scenic railways but many of the stations along the route don't do it justice. The proposed 'hub' - with Llandeilo a UK first - would act as a superb gateway to the town and bring life back to the station area."

Paul has been in the railway industry for nearly 40 years. He developed the concept of ‘Community Rail’ and has been directly involved in the establishment of over sixty community-rail partnerships that have led to increased use of local and regional railways.
