ARMED police were called to an incident in Llandybie yesterday following reporters a man was carrying two rifles.

At around 3.30pm on Thursday, September 10 a report was made to police by a member of the public who saw a male carrying what was believed to be two uncovered rifles along Llandeilo road, Llandybie.

Firearms officers quickly attend the scene and detained the male who was compliant.

As a result of enquiries it was established that the rifles were imitation section one firearms with the capability of firing BB plastic pellets.

The male has received an adult community resolution, and has agreed to take part in a police led educational input highlighting the potential dangers of his actions, and offences in relation to firearms act

Ammanford Police Sergeant Kerry Scoberg said, “The comparison of real rifles and the fake ones was alarmingly realistic. I would like to remind the public, if someone sees a person carrying something like a BB or an imitation gun out in the street, they will not be able to tell if it is real or not, and as in this case the police were called and an armed response unit attended the location. The conclusion could have been very different.

“The message we want to get across is that carrying an imitation firearm out in public is against the law, and can have very serious consequences for anyone seen with one.”
