A vegetable-loving Ammanford shopper has come up trumps after scooping £160 credit from the town greengrocer.

Audrey Symons was overjoyed when her free ticket was drawn at Simmons and Daughters, of Quay Street, following an eight-week rollover when the prize went unclaimed.

"I am absolutely delighted," said Mrs Symons, who collected the first instalment of her prize from on Wednesday.

"It is great to win and I'm even happier to be supporting the shop.

"This is exactly the type of shop Ammanford needs.

"To have fresh fruit and veg available in an independent shop in the town centre is just great - not everybody has a car so they cannot get to the big supermarkets.

"It is really good to be able to call in when you are in town and see and smell the produce - and you can pick up just the amount you need rather than having to buy everything packaged up."

Shop Owner James Simmons created the customer reward scheme shortly after opening in April with a ticket handed to each customer ahead of a weekly draw for £20 store credit.

He was delighted to see the prize finally won.

"We set up the scheme as a way to give something back to our customers and to say thanks to those keep coming back when we were a new shop in town," said James.

"We were surprised that no one has claimed it as it started to get bigger and bigger, so we are really happy to see it has been won now.

"We are delighted with the amount of support we have had from people in town - everybody tells us Ammanford has been crying out for a proper greengrocer for years.

"People want fresh, high quality produce, and we are delighted to be able to offer it to them."
