A SECOND Amman Valley resident has been hit with a double-whammy fine after being spotted littering the streets with a parking ticket.

The man, who has not been named, earned himself a fine when he was spotted by a member of the public throwing his parking fine out of his car and onto the floor as he drove out of Margaret Street car park in Ammanford.

The offender had been issued with a Penalty Charge Notice for contravening parking regulations.

The witness contacted the council and the driver found himself on the wrong end of a £75 fixed penalty notice for littering too.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “I hope this sends out the message that people cannot get away with breaking the law in this way.

“The man thought he could get away with avoiding a fine for the parking offence by throwing the ticket away; but now he has incurred a further ticket for dropping litter.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and action will be taken against offenders.”

This is the second time in the last three months someone has been fined for littering after throwing away a Penalty Charge Notice.

In June, an Amman Valley woman has been hit with a double fine after she was spotted she was spotted throwing her parking ticket down a drain when spotted parking her car in a licenced taxi rank.in Ammanford’s Wind Street.

However, the ticket – which contained all her vehicle details - was rescued from the drain and council enforcement officers were able to track her down with the help of the DVLA in Swansea.

She was also issued with£75 littering fixed penalty notice to add to her original parking offence fine.
