A former Ammanford woman has been ordered to pay a total of £365 after she admitted stealing three steaks and a side of beef from a Llanelli supermarket.

Lisa Janine Rees, previously of 59 Gwaun Henllan but now living in Tyshia, pleaded guilty to shoplifting from the Marks and Spencer outlet at Trostre Retail Park on May 9.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughn told Llanelli magistrates how security staff at the store became suspicious after noticing "the meat shelf had emptied" when Rees, aged 39, was nearby.

A viewing of CCTV footage showed Rees entering the store, picking up a basket and filling it with meat before leaving.

"She made no attempt to pay," said Ms Vaughn.

"She was easy enough to identify and to catch as she had her leg in a plaster cast."

Clare Sherwood, defending, told the court that Rees had had "a number of issues" in the past but was changing her life around.

"She had been out of trouble for nearly a year before this offence," Ms Sherwood said.

"This was a minor slip up."

Magistrates fined Rees £110 and ordered she pay £85 costs, a £150 court charge and a £20 victim surcharge.
