A GARNANT father of three, fed-up with constantly cleaning up after BT Openreach engineers, has decided put his point across in rather a unique way.

Liam Bennett, from Vicarage Road, with help from his three daughters, Martha, aged eight, Millie, six, and Ffion, four, collected all the wire, mesh, and bits of rubbish the engineers disregarded on the floor and made a sign asking the workmen to tidy up.

“I’m fed-up with continuously cleaning up after them,” said Liam.

“If it was a member of the public littering the streets everyday they would be fined by the council—so why are these companies, who should know better, allowed to get away with it?

“The rubbish they leave behind looks unsightly and it is disrespectful to the people who live on this street.

“In order to get my complaint heard, with a lot help from my daughters, I made a poster out of all the litter they left saying '“Openreach Clean up Please!”' and stuck it on the cab hoping that the engineers would clean-up their act."

Following Liam’s campaign his sign was taken down and an official sign was placed inside the box instructing the engineers to take away all their excess wires and waste with them.

However, it seems, that the new sign was taken as a joke—when Liam was walking past the cab he noticed the one of the workmen had written '“Sure!”' on the bottom.

“Just as I thought I was getting somewhere I noticed that someone had written on the official sign, this is not a joke,” added Liam.

“I really care about where I live, and I believe in keeping the environment clean and tidy, and I want Openreach to take my complaints seriously and act upon them.

“Knowing the sign has been written on in a kind of jokey way just infuriates me.”

A Openreach spokesman said the site would be inspected.

“We take matters such as this very seriously and will be reminding our teams of the need to clean up after they’ve finished their work,” said the spokesman.
