An Amman Valley woman has been hit with a double whammy after she was spotted parking her car in a taxi rank.
The woman, who has not been named by Carmarthenshire County Council for legal reasons, was issued with a fixed penalty notice for illegal parking after she left her vehicle in the licensed cab rank at Ammanford’s Wind Street.
However, rather than accept she had been caught out and take her punishment on the chin, she ripped the ticket from her windscreen and unceremoniously threw it down a nearby drain.
Unfortunately for her, the ticket – which contained all her vehicle details - was rescued from the drain and council enforcement officers were able to track her down with the help of the DVLA in Swansea.
She was then issued with a second fixed penalty notice for £75 – this time for littering - to add to her original parking offence fine.
A Carmarthenshire County Council spokesman said anyone issued with a fixed penalty notice would face prosecution for failing to pay.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection, Councillor Jim Jones said: “I hope this sends out the message that people cannot get away with breaking the law in this way.
“The woman thought she could get away with avoiding a fine for the parking offence by throwing the ticket down the drain; but now she has incurred a further ticket for dropping litter.
“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and action will be taken against offenders.”
