A BABY boom at a Towy Valley horse rescue centre has prompted an appeal for financial help from the charity.

Lluest Horse and Pony Trust based in Llangadog needs help with the cost of caring for a number of new foals recently born to mares rescued from abandonment and neglect.

Ponies like Nutmeg, found wandering around the busy streets of Cardiff with no shelter, food or water, was taken in by Lluest just in time to have her foal.

Lluest Horse and Pony Trust are based in the Brecon Beacons National Park and rescue horses and ponies from all across Wales.

Established in 1985 they are able to accommodate a maximum of 35 equines at any one time.

Lluest Trustee Rhiannon Pugh said, “The arrival of new foals at the Trust is always a joy but it does place an extra strain on our limited resources.

“We are entirely dependent on voluntary donations and right now we are asking the public to consider offering a contribution, however small. "Every penny really does make a difference”.

Lluest celebrate their 30th anniversary this year and to date have rescued 333 horses and ponies and currently have 179 out in loan homes across the UK.
