RESIDENTS of Llandyfan and Trap have accused Brecon Carreg Water of “disrespecting the community” by flouting a planning order.

Recently, members of the planning committee granted the bottling plant an extension to the times when hauliers could leave and enter the site.

Under the new planning rules lorries are permitted to enter and exit the site from 7.30am-7.30pm on the basis that only four HGV vehicles enter the site between 6pm-7.30pm, Monday and Saturday.

However, people living close to the site have been monitoring the situation and claim to have witnessed trucks arriving asearly as 6.06am.

These unscheduled arrivals have been reported to Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and it is alleged that an enforcement order is shortly to be served on the water company for breaching the planning order rules.

County Councillor Edward Thomas said: “I have requested a meeting with the manager from Brecon Carreg to voice the concerns of Towy Valley residents.”

He also stated that if this meeting does not have a successful outcome he will appeal to the head of the parent company.

“Advertisement for the plant depicts a small environmentally friendly company nested in the Brecon Beacons,” said Cllr Thomas.

“When in reality they are simply ignoring and disrespecting the community.”

A spokesperson from Brecon Mineral Water said: “We have received a notification from the Brecon Beacons National Park of an alleged breach of vehicle movements, we have investigated this matter and taken action to ensure that the drivers of our transport operator fully understand the conditions.”

A spokeswoman from Brecon Beacons National Park Authority said: “Complaints have been made to our Enforcement Team and these are under investigation.

"Until those investigations are concluded we cannot offer any further comment at this stage.”
