Carmarthenshire’s markets are once again supporting the National Love Your Local Market campaign, which starts today (May 13).

Stallholders will be joining over 900 markets across the country by taking part in the 2015 campaign which is being led by the National Association of British Market Authorities, and lasts until May 27.

Carmarthenshire has two indoor markets in Carmarthen and Llanelli which are open six days a week and are bursting with traders selling a variety of products from clothing and hair and make-up accessories to gifts for your pets or even phone/computer repairs as well as a great variety of stalls selling fresh produce.

They also boast great cafes which are perfect for a cup of tea and a snack when it is time to take a break from shopping.

The county also hosts weekly outdoor markets in Ammanford and Llandeilo as well as those in Llanelli and Carmarthen.

As part of this year’s National campaign, the county has launched its annual Carmarthenshire Young Traders competition for pupils from four primary schools in the county to prove their entrepreneurship skills and learn more about what it’s like to become a trader.

This year’s competition is being held at Ammanford outdoor market on June 19 – so go along and show your support.

County Market Manager Amanda Davies said: “The Love Your Local Market campaign demonstrates how important the market is to the local community. Along with promoting our markets, we are also looking forward to our hugely successful Carmarthenshire Young Traders competition which gives pupils a taste of being a trader and teaches them valuable skills. The competition is being held in June and I hope shoppers will once again support the pupils in their venture.”
