British Transport Police (BTP) has released CCTV images of a man officers would like to speak to following an incident at Swansea railway station.

Officers were called to the station on Friday, March 27, following a report of a person being aggressive and verbally abusive towards staff and members of the public.

PC Ian Wood, who is investigating the incident, said: “At around 6.45pm, a passenger walked into Swansea station and started shouting and swearing at various members of the public.

“Station staff intervened and the man immediately turned his aggression towards them before boarding a train. He was asked to leave the service after continuing to behave in an aggressive manner, at which point he further verbally abused and threatened a member of staff to the point that the victim feared for his safety.

“The aggressor then left the station and got in a taxi.”

Following a number of enquiries, officers have managed to isolate CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, and are now calling on the public to assist.

He is described as white, aged in his 40s, around 5ft 6in, bald and of a slim build. He was wearing a white top with a blue jacket and dark trousers, and spoke with a Welsh accent.

“I believe this person may have key information about the incident and I am calling on anyone who recognises him – or who has information about the incident – to come forward,” said PC Wood.

“This was a totally unprovoked attack on members of staff simply doing their job and members of the public who were innocent bystanders. Clearly, the behaviour of this individual was extremely concerning and entirely unacceptable.

“Staff have the right to go about their work without feeling threatened. BTP will not tolerate aggression of any kind towards railway staff or fellow passengers, and we will do everything possible to track down the offender and bring him to justice.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may recognise the man pictured or knows his current whereabouts to contact police.”
