A GARNANT man hurled abuse at a passerby after showering her with broken glass, a court has been told.

and stuck her with “bits of glass” drooped from his upstairs window has appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court.

Stephen John Jenkins, of Flat 4 at 66 Cwmaman Road, admitted using threatening words and behaviour causing harassment, alarm or distress.

Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, told the court how a 56-year-old woman was passing Jenkins flat on her way home from the shop at 8.45am on Saturday, March 21, when she felt something striking her on the head.

“The lady stopped and turned to see what had struck her,” said Ms Vaughan.

“She noticed there were bits of glass on the floor.

"At this point the 24-year-old began hurling abusive words at her.

"She then ran home and called the police.”

When officers attended the scene Jenkins continued to shout abuse at them until he was arrested.

Laura Sherwood, defending, told the court that Jenkins was very sorry for his actions and said mental health issues were one of the main reasons for his actions.

“He has asked me to apologise to the court on his behalf,” said Ms Sherwood.

“He did not know or deliberately target this lady.

"His actions were a result of his mental health issues."

District Judge David Parsons fined Jenkins £110 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
