NATIONAL Trust Wales is inviting people across Carmarthenshire to rediscover the great outdoors at its spectacular Dinefwr parkland.

Events at Dinefwr park and castle will be officially ‘cracked’ open with the annual Cadbury Easter Egg Trail taking place across the bank holiday weekend, with a Cadbury chocolate Egghead as a prize.

Alongside the trails, there will be an abundance of fun-packed activities for all the family to take part in throughout spring.

Families can learn about Dinefwr’s ancient herd of White Park cattle, which are now in calving season, and visit the new-born calves. They can also join the popular Tractor Trailer Tours, which take place every Wednesday and Friday at 12 noon, starting on April 8.

Dinefwr’s woodland is a haven of serenity and wildlife – perfect for a walk on the variety of trails and joining the springtime Badger Watch from May 16. Keep an eye out for all kinds of creatures emerging from the wood and water, like the Fallow Deer fawns, otters and herons.

The Trust will also be highlighting some of Dinefwr’s best ‘floral wows’ around the 800 acre estate this spring. See the beautiful blooming bluebells in Castle Woods and enjoy adventuring through the wealth of ancient trees, including towering Oaks, Hawthorns and Cedars of Lebanon.

Spring events at the property will include:

• Calving season at Dinefwr - April 1 to July 31, from 10am to 4pm.

• Tractor Trailer Tours - 46 dates between April 8 and September 4.

• Bluebell display in Castle Woods - see them at their best during May 2015, 10am to 6pm.

• Badger Watch - 21 dates between May 16 and August 15.

Justin Albert, Director for National Trust Wales, said: “Spring is the perfect time to see our beautiful locations burst into life, so we’re excited to be opening our doors to as many outdoor-lovers as possible this season. From the herbaceous borders at Dyffryn to the world-renowned Laburnham Arch at Bodnant, there really is something new each time you visit. It’s a fantastic way to see nature’s colours at their best.

“Our calendar of events gives audiences young and new the opportunity to take in the full sights, sounds, and smells of spring, while exploring the amazing country and coastal landscape this nation has to offer.”
