THE world adventures of a Llandybie family will be the focus of a new S4C series.

Last year was an adventurous time for the Davies family – as they spent 11 months travelling around the world, and visited over 10 countries.

From snorkelling in Australia to canoeing in Vietnam, Paul, Adele, and their children nine-year-old Lili Mai and seven-year-old Nel will share their unforgettable year on Teulu Mewn Bacpac to be broadcast on S4C on Monday, March 2, at 4.50pm for a week as a part of Awr Fawr programme for children.

"We're very fortunate that we've had a chance to go. We've been saving since Lili was a baby" says Paul, who's just turned 40.

"I was raised on a farm, and I didn't travel a lot when I was a child. But in my twenties I travelled with dad across South America and New Zealand, and really enjoyed it! And I wanted it do it again with my own family, to us it was something normal to do!"

From September 2013 to August 2014, the family travelled all over the world, USA, Canada, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Brittany, India, China. Quite an adventure considering that Lili Mai and Nel had never flown before their around the world trip.

"We enjoyed everything about our journey. Everything was new and exciting. Hearing new accents and languages was cool. Not going to school for a year was a new experience for Nel and I, but learning something new every day was easy when you got to experience the world," says Lili who now has returned to her primary school, Ffairfach Primary School.

According to Paul, although the children missed a year of school, this didn't affect their learning. And as well as learning about the world, they didn't miss out on their education; Adele tutored Nel, and Paul taught Lili.

"We tutored the children while we were travelling, and they also had experiences while travelling. They learnt about geography, morals and communicating with others," says Paul.

The trip has been life changing for Paul, and he's decided to leave his job as a deputy head teacher, to start a business producing honey on his smallholding in Llandybie.

The family saw wonders of the world whilst travelling. They visited the city that never sleeps-New York, they met Fiji natives, snorkelled in Cairns, Australia, and went canoeing in Halong Bay, Vietnam, and they filmed their experiences for Teulu Mewn Bacpac.

"Florida was my favourite place. Visiting Disney parks and all the water places was a fantastic way to spend three weeks. Travelling around New Zealand in a campervan for two months was great and spending Christmas with dad's friend in Nelson was also fantastic" says Nel.

"I will always remember this year; however I don't want to see another plane for a while, in all we went on 36 journeys on a plane!"
